The first main event of 2016 at Goodwood is the 74th Members Meeting. Primarily for Goodwood Road Racing Club members, the event kicks off the season, where attendees are treated to a grid of cars from the last 90 years of motorsport. There’s also games for younger attendees, lots of food and drink, and a party on the Saturday night, making it perfect for all the family. This year, the 74th Members Meeting takes place from 19-20th March.
Goodwood is perhaps best known for its Festival of Speed, which is being held from 23-26th June this year. Attracting tens of thousands of visitors each year, the event showcases the best of motorsport and motor racing from the past, and the present. This year, Goodwood has announced that the festival will be a celebration of “the most powerful competition cars and motorcycles from the history of motor sport, and the heroic drivers and riders who tamed them.”
Anyone into horse racing will have Glorious Goodwood in their diary, also known as the Qatar Goodwood Festival. The five day extravaganza is being held from 26-30th July 2016, and is the highlight of the British flat racing season, as well as being a big event in the social calendar. The relaxed and stylish atmosphere is what attracted around 100,000 visitors last year, as well as the finest equine talents on display.
The Goodwood Revival, held this year from 9-11th September, is the worlds largest historic motor racing and vintage culture festival. The event brings Goodwood motor racing circuit glory days as an active racetrack (from 1948-66) alive. Many visitors wear period clothes, and modern cars are banned – the event is a truly immersive experience, and is one not to be missed by vintage, car and aviation fans alike.
